Healthcare Company Visit

27th March 2018

On Monday 26 March, Sir Mike Penning MP visited the offices of LD Collins and Co Ltd at Breakspear Park in Hemel Hempstead.

LD Collins, a family-owned specialist female healthcare company, have acquired worldwide rights for the life-changing IVF medication which they founded and developed almost 50 years ago.

LD Collins is set to supply its progesterone-based Cyclogest – mainly used in women during the course of IVF treatment – to countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The takeover by LD Collins means that the product will now experience increased and exclusive promotion and support from the specialist pharmaceutical company.

Cyclogest has already been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of women looking to conceive through IVF, as well as those with pre-menstrual syndrome and post-natal depression. The product has experienced exponential growth in the past 10 years, and Cyclogest is forecasted to continue to grow in the coming.

Now, after taking back global rights for the product, LD Collins’s president Matthew Philipps – grandson of Laurence Collins who founded the company and formulated Cyclogest – has set his sights on helping more people with the product than ever before. In particular, the launch of Cyclogest across Europe will contribute to the brand equity and value.

Cyclogest comes in pessaries containing 200mg or 400mg of progesterone, a naturally-occurring hormone in women. The product is a leader in its field, with a shorter treatment duration and a higher progesterone dosage than its competitors.

Until recently, companies including Actavis, Watson and Allergan have distributed the drug, with thousands of patients having access to Cyclogest in the UK alone. However, the acquisition by LD Collins means that the product will now be serviced by a company dedicated to ensuring the success and profitability of the product.

This has led to rapid growth for LD Collins, who have taken up residence in Hemel Hempstead and are in the process of hiring new personnel as the company expands.

Sir Mike’s visit highlights the upward trajectory of the company, as the MP continues his support for local businesses, assisting them to fulfil their potential.
